Hey Kids!

Get ready for a tree-mendous adventure these school holidays at the Hunter Wetlands Centre! From giant eucalypts and peeling paperbarks to whispering casuarinas and muddy mangroves, we're celebrating the amazing trees of our Wetlands in the July School Holidays!

Winter is a wonderful time of year for kids and families to be exploring outdoors, so why not enjoy a nature-filled adventure together! Check out what's on:

I 💚 Trees Trail

Search for Melaleucas, Mangroves, Casuarinas and more as you follow this fun, self-guided tree-spotting trail.  Then VOTE for your favourite tree by showing its some love with a heart.

Hunter Wetlands After Dark

Join our guide, John, as we focus the spotlight on the animals, birds and insects that live in our trees. You'll be surprised at how many come out at night!
Mon 6th  & Wed 15th at 6.00pm ($15 adults $7.50 kids)

Guided Mangrove Walk

Follow Guide, Carolyn, on a walk along the creek to learn all about Mangroves and other wetlands trees!

Critters & Craft

Dip-netting is back! Join Guide Catherine on the Dip-net Jetty with microscopes and magnifying glasses to discover what's in the pond.
Creative kids can get leafy with nature craft on the lower deck or make Stop Motion short films of their own. 
Wednesday 8th & 15th. Drop in between 10am - 12pm

Animal Encounters

Magpie Geese Feeding: Daily at 10.30am (Free with Entry)

Reptile Encounter Show: Wed, Sat & Sun at 11am ($5 with Entry)

Canoeing

Winter is wonderful weather for a paddle down our tranquil Canoe Trail. Can you complete our Mangrove Activity Sheet?
HireCost: $30/3-person canoe for 2 hours

Hunter Wetlands at the Hunter Botanical Gardens

Meet the Wetlands Team at the Hunter Region Botanic Gardens on Children's Discovery Day fand enjoy hands-on wetlands activities while discovering some of the Hunter's unique plants.
