Calling all photographers! Have you captured a special moment at the Hunter Wetlands Centre?

Each year, our Photography Competition celebrates the incredible wildlife, landscapes and changing seasons of the Hunter Wetlands Centre  and gives our community the chance to help create our annual calendar.

We’re looking for photographs that showcase what makes the Wetlands such a special place. It could be a striking bird or other wildlife encounter, a beautiful wetland landscape, an interesting plant or insect, or one of those unexpected moments that captures the character of the Centre.

Your photo could feature in our 2027 Calendar

Entries will go into the running to be selected for the 2027 Hunter Wetlands Centre Calendar, with winning photographs featured throughout the calendar.

The calendar is an important annual fundraiser for the Hunter Wetlands Centre, with proceeds helping us continue our work protecting and restoring this internationally significant wetland.

How to enter

Submit your favourite photographs taken at the Hunter Wetlands Centre, Shortland.

Entries close: 18th September 2026

To enter:

• Read the Terms and Conditions
• Bring in your photograph to the centre by the 18th September 2026
• Email a high resolution photograph to photography@wetlands.org.au

Entries are limited to two photographs per person

Have your say

Once entries close, shortlisted photographs will be displayed for our community to enjoy and vote for their favourites.

The winning images will then take pride of place in the 2027 Hunter Wetlands Centre Calendar.

About the Hunter Wetlands Centre Fundraising Calendar

Community is at the heart of all we do at the Hunter Wetlands Centre so we are grateful to the members of the community who used their photographic skills and submitted photos for our 2026 Fundraising Calendar. Funds raised from sales of the calendar go back into maintaining our not-for-profit and largely volunteer-run centre. Additionally these beautifully captured images of wildlife and wetlands scenes showcase the beauty that is found in our grounds, right in the heart of Newcastle.
