We're celebrating World Environment Day and the opening of our newly refurbished Theatrette with our inaugural SWAMP Short Film Festival.
Coinciding with World Environment Day the Swamp Film Festival will present an exiting program of environmental film screenings, Q&As with film industry and environmental speakers, film workshops and film-focused activities for kids.
Swamp Film Festival showcases locally produced films focusing on the wetlands ecosystems and wildlife of the Hunter Estuary in NSW, Australia inspiring us to explore, protect and respect our wetlands environment.

Whether you're a seasoned documentary filmmaker or social media content creator or are newly transitioning from photography you will enjoy this walking workshop on nature filmmaking and videography.

Featuring historical footage and archive images and a live panel of experts in environmental science, disaster management and audiovisual archiving, this special Q&A explores the legacy of the devastating 1955 Maitland Flood, the social and environmental changes it shaped across the Hunter region and what a changing climate may mean for the future of our coasts and waterways.

Kids can have fun creating their own animations at this creative drop-in session. Then head outside and follow our Storyboard Trail around our Wetlands Centre to make your own documentary reel.
