Art Exhibition: Nest to Flight

Visitor Centre Hunter Wetlands Centre

This exhibition honours the bond between parent and child, the magic of creating together, and the lifelong interplay between holding close and letting go.

“Nest to Flight” is a celebration of shared creativity, connection, and the quiet, powerful dance between nature and nurture. This exhibition brings together the, voices and visions of a mother and her two sons—each with their own mark-making, energy, and intuition—woven into a collective story of growth, belonging, and becoming.

Rooted in the intimate spaces of home and the wild freedom of imagination, our creative process is both an offering and a conversation. Making art together becomes a way to witness one another—each line, colour, and brushstroke a thread between us. Through creativity, we explore what it means to build a nest: a place of safety, curiosity, and love. And from that place, we move toward flight—the stretch into independence, exploration, and the wider world—together.

"The natural world is our companion and teacher. Birds, leaves, sky, and soil appear throughout our work, echoing the rhythms of change, the beauty of seasons, and the cycles of life we see mirrored in our own family. Just as nests are crafted twig by twig, our creative life has grown moment by moment—through shared messes, experiments, and quiet afternoons of painting side by side."
