Art is a combination of having a real sensitivity to nature and a respect for the environment. This exhibition has been compiled with much love, appreciation, enthusiasm and fulfilling joy by two local artists, and good friends Wynette Horne and Wilma Rufford.
Wynette Horne OAM
From mainly a musical background Wynette's love of nature, and the lifelong desire to paint, led her to explore art classes in 2010 under Julie-Anne Ure. The diverse variations of colours and textures found in all Nature’s creations prompted her to begin using acrylics and a variety of textural techniques, always attempting to capture the detail and realism of each work.
Wilma Rufford
Wilma's art journey began in 2008 with classes in watercolour. After moving to Lake Macquarie in 2012 she began studying under Julie-Anne Ure and her focus turned from watercolour to acrylic. Wilma doesn't define her art to any particular style. Her fascination and love of colour comes from a previous career in interior design and her inspiration comes from having a sensitivity to nature and a respect for the environment.
Wynette and Wilma are pleased to be sharing their joint exhibition at the Hunter Wetlands Centre where they have been regular visitors, always discovering something new and exciting to photograph before exploring unique and individual ways to express its beauty and originality. Both Wilma and Wynette have been holding Art for Fun classes for Seniors at Macquarie Life Church and, earlier this year, helped organise and set up a Painting for Parkinson’s course at The Hunter Wetlands Centre.
You are invited to the exhibition launch on Saturday 30th August at 3:30-5pm.
As a special treat, and honouring Wynette's long musical association, the opening will be supported by the Waratah Girls Choir.
The exhibition will run from 30th August to 26th September 2025
