Art Exhibition: Chrissy Murray

The Mystical Creatures of the Wetlands exhibition unfolds as a journey: from the familiar creatures we recognise, to the hidden and rare lives that are often overlooked, we see the Hunter Wetlands through a lens of wonder, as if it awakens into a magical world when no one is watching. Each piece balances colour, detail, and imagination to reveal the spirit hidden within these landscapes. Reimagining the Hunter Wetlands as a place alive with mystery and possibility, the exhibition is both a celebration of biodiversity and an invitation to wonder.

Chrissy Murray's practice explores the surreal blending reality with fantasy to create work that reimagines the natural world. For Chrissy, who is also known as Xrissart Artist, art is a way of seeing differently - of uncovering hidden stories, spirits and possibilities that live alongside us in places we think we already know.

"My hope is that visitors will pause, look closer, and feel the enchantment of this environment — a reminder that art and nature share a common purpose: to inspire, to nurture, and to endure."
