Photography Competition

Starts 1st October - Finishes 30th November

Entrants have 2 months to take their masterpiece photos of this beautiful area to win fabulous prizes. After the great success of our first photography competition last year we are glad to announce that it will be back again bigger and better this year. Keep a watch on this page for more information in the coming weeks.   An exhibition of entries will be on show throughout December/ January.

 

Orchids at The Wetlands

18-19th September 2010

A great day to get outside and explore the nature rich wetlands. Admire the prize-winning native & exotic orchids and take a relaxing stroll around the wetlands walking tracks. Purchase a flowering plant of your very own or learn how to pot orchids. A range of vendors include: Tinonee Orchids, Down Under Native Orchids, Rosella Orchids, The Orchid Tray Company, Australian Plant Society and Newcastle Wildflower Nursery.

Theatre at the Wetlands

Shakespeare et al and the Wetlands Centre Shortland present an exciting school holiday program of original children’s theatre.

The Frog Prince - September 27 - October 8th    Monday* to Friday 10am 

The Frog Prince is Shakespeare et al's latest offering for their popular school holiday programme at the Hunter Wetlands Centre. Following the success of Wind in the Willows, Titania¹s Fairies and Hansel and Gretel this adaptation has similarly been crafted to utilize the magnificent outdoor setting.

With puppetry, song and environmental themes this production written and directed by Anne Frost is sure to delight the whole family.

 *Please note there will be NO performance on Monday 4th October due to Public Holiday
