School Holiday Activities *

The Hunter Wetlands Centre is a wonderful place to take some time out. Plenty of tracks to go walking, a discovery trail, dipnetting and super fun playground will have your 'gang' entertained for hours. Try canoeing  or experience our interactive reptile talk. Bring  a picnic and laze under a shady tree enjoying the beautiful grounds.

Entry $2 - Child under 12 years (special school holiday rate). Under 3 years FREE. $5 General Entry

DAILY

Magpie Geese Feeding - Daily 10.30am - FREE

Wetlands Explorer & Wetland Passport - collect your map, follow the trail, answer the questions and go in the draw to win a Wetlands goodies pack - FREE

Dipnetting - collect a net, a bucket and a species guide and see what you can find in the pond - Gold coin donation

Discovery Playground - Climb and slide and spin

Walking & Bike Riding Trails - bring your bike and ride around the whole site

Canoeing - hire a canoe and explore the wetlands from a different angle

NOTE: In the school holidays there will be Reprtile Encounters at 12 noon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays and at 12.30pm on Saturdays & Sundays.

* Closed in shoes hat, sunscreen and insect repellent are strongly recommended.

Monday 25 Sept

Kids Art Day (5-12 Years) $25 9.30am- 12.30 pm Bookings Essential

Animals and Habitats – explore the wetlands to see birds & reptiles and build some large bird nests on site.

Plaster Model Fun – Any age $5.00 (plus $2 entry)

Drop in between 10am-12 noon and paint a plaster model

Tuesday 26 Sept

Kids Art Day (5-12 Year) $25 9.30am- 12.30 pm Bookings Essential

Draw it. Paint it. Find the best places to see wildlife. Draw wetland birds & animals to create a wetlands mural.

Wednesday 27 Sept

Bush Skills (8 – 12 years) $20 9.30am-12.30pm Bookings Essential

Make (and eat) a damper and build a bush shelter. Take a guided walk and learn basic survival skills. Get up close and personal with some of our resident reptiles.

Wetland Explorer Club  (5 – 8 years) $20 10am-12.30pm Bookings Essential

Let’s play the Magpie Geese Game- help feed the Magpie Geese and learn about their life so you can make and play the Magpie Geese Game!

Thursday 28 Sept

Biodiversity Day at Blue Gum Hill Regional Park - come and say hello to us as this free family fun day.

Friday 29 Sept

Sand Art Fun – Any age $5.00 (plus $2 entry)

Drop in between 10am-12 noon and create a colourful sand picture

Tuesday 3 October

Kids Art Day (7-12 years) $25  9.30am- 12.30 pm  Bookings Essential

Sensory Walk & Journey Sticks.  Be inspired by a Sensory Garden walk to make your own scented candle.  Create a Journey Stick that tells the story of your exploration of the wetlands.

Friday 6 October

ATTENTION VACATION CARE & OOSH GROUP ORGANISERS

Vacation Care Centre Directors are invited to bring groups of 12 or more to the Hunter Wetlands Centre for one of our special school holiday programs. Staff from the Hunter Wetlands Centre will guide your students on a fun day of outdoor adventure and learning. For the School Holidays we can again offer a choice of:

1. Bush Adventure Day*              Cost: $14 per child

2. Wetlands Explorers*                Cost: $14 per child

3. Self Guided program*             Cost $5 per child.
