School Holiday Activities *

The Hunter Wetlands Centre is a wonderful place to take some time out. Plenty of tracks to go walking, a discovery trail, dipnetting and super fun playground will have your 'gang' entertained for hours. Try canoeing  or experience our interactive reptile talk. Bring  a picnic and laze under a shady tree enjoying the beautiful grounds.

Entry $2 - Child under 12 years (special school holiday rate). Under 3 years FREE. $5 General Entry

DAILY

Magpie Geese Feeding - Daily 10.30am - FREE

Wetlands Explorer & Wetland Passport - collect your map, follow the trail, answer the questions and go in the draw to win a Wetlands goodies pack - FREE

Dipnetting - collect a net, a bucket and a species guide and see what you can find in the pond - Gold coin donation

Discovery Playground - Climb and slide and spin

Walking & Bike Riding Trails - bring your bike and ride around the whole site

Canoeing - hire a canoe and explore the wetlands from a different angle

NOTE: In the school holidays there will be Reptile Encounters at 12 noon on Tuesdays & Wednesdays and at 12.30pm on Saturdays & Sundays.

* Closed in shoes hat, sunscreen and insect repellent are strongly recommended.

Monday 15th January 2018  Wetlands Explorer Club  For 5 to 8 years   10am - 12.30pm

Cost: $20 per child - Bookings Essential ph 49516466

Explore the colours of the wetlands and gather material to make an amazing collage

Tuesday 16th January 2018

Bush Skills  for 8 to 12 years   9.30am - 12.30pm

Cost: $20 per child - Bookings Essential ph 49516466

Make (and eat) a damper, build a bush shelter, enjoy a guided walk and learn basic survival skills. Get up close and personal with some of our resident reptiles.

Sand Art Fun  (4yrs + )   Drop in between 10.00am - 12 noon

Cost: $5 per child  (plus $2 entry)

Drop in and use coloured sand to create an amazing picture you can take home.

Monday 22 January 2018

Plaster Fun (3yrs + )   Drop in between 10.00am - 12 noon

Cost: $5 (plus $2 entry)

Drop in and paint a plaster model.

Tuesday 23rd January 2018

Kids Art Day   For 6 to 12 year olds  9.30am - 12.30pm

Cost: $25 per child - Bookings Essential ph 49516466

Kids will observe and learn about the wetland environment and use drawing, painting, collage, and other art techniques to express their understanding and appreciation of the wetland environment. They will be designing a wildlife mask to take home.

Wednesday 24th January 2018

Wetlands Passport & Wetlands Explorer

Available any time in the holidays. Cost: FREE

Follow clues to explore the Wetlands. Go in the draw for a weekly prize.

There’s lots to do at the wetlands in the holidays: dip-netting, children’s playground, reptile encounter, walks, watch the magpie geese feeding at 10.30am daily, explore with your Wetlands Passport. More details  at www.wetlands.org.au

Closed in shoes and insect repellent recommended.

Adults: $5; Children 3-12 years $2 (special school holiday rate); Under 3 free. 

 

ATTENTION VACATION CARE & OOSH GROUP ORGANISERS

Vacation Care Centre Directors are invited to bring groups of 12 or more to the Hunter Wetlands Centre for one of our special school holiday programs. Staff from the Hunter Wetlands Centre will guide your students on a fun day of outdoor adventure and learning. For the School Holidays we can again offer a choice of:

1. Bush Adventure Day*              Cost: $14 per child

2. Wetlands Explorers*                Cost: $14 per child

3. Self Guided program*             Cost $5 per child.
