Breakfast with the Birds

When you book in for a delicious breakfast at Spoonbill Cafe, it will include entry to the Wetlands  and watching the feeding of the birds at the BPH pond.

Starting at 8 am  for  a stroll and feeding of the  birds return to enjoy your breakfast with a unique view of the Wetlands.

Daily Guided Walking Tours

Guided walks take people on a journey of history and conservation, and provide a fascinating look at the Flora and Fauna of the Hunter Wetlands site; providing a rich experience and fostering a greater understanding of the importance of Wetlands. Please wear sturdy covered shoes and a hat. See Reception on arrival.

Every Weekday 11am (bookings are essential)

Cost (includes entry):

                     $15 adults

                     $10 children,

                      $40 family (2 A + 2 C)

Canoeing on the A-maze-ing Ironbark Trail

Paddle and explore our CanoeTrail with experienced guides. Stop off for a guided walk through the remnant coastal rainforest area, a must for our visitors, and then you may choose to return to Spoonbill Cafe  for a delicious lunch.

Starting 9:30am  on the following days.

Spotlight Prowl

Do creatures of the night amaze you? A slight rustle in the bushes, flapping of unseen wings and a pair of glowing eyes staring down on you?. Join our experienced guides and be amazed!

Our Spotlight Prowl event is hibernating for the winter. Please join us in the springtime when the weather warms and our furry friends are more active on site. 


14 September, 2013 - 5.45pm

12th October, 2013  - 7pm

9th November, 2013 - 7.30pm

14th December, 2013 - 8pm

BYO Torch.  Please book by 4pm the day prior. Minimum numbers are required for the tours to go ahead.

Other Events

Tank Talk   (Free)

Held at 1 pm daily (subject to availability & numbers) and 12pm during the school holidays in main building. Listen to a talk  about our delightful reptiles that call the Hunter Wetlands home. It is a chance to meet our residents up close.


Pond Bird Feeding 

While visiting us see the birds residing here being  fed at 2.30 pm daily  at  the BHP pond.


Please note: During school holiday periods -  Reptile tank talk at 12 pm  Bird feeding at 10.30 pm
